News for All

After 25 years in Prince George providing badminton lessons, skill development, and recreational and competitive opportunities for youth and adults, North Central Badminton Academy Prince George will be closing their doors.  At our 2022 Annual General Meeting, December 6th, 2022, a motion to dissolve as a society and club was unanimously passed. Our last program session will end March 6th, 2023, with final dissolution and operation as of May 31st, 2023.

We are extremely pleased with what our club has accomplished.  Our small group of dedicated volunteers have hosted four (4) Olympians in Prince George for Exhibition Games & Camps, a 10-day Northern BC Badminton Roadshow, endless camps that brought the best of the best guest coaches to PG, multiple Canada’s National Team members to run clinics and  help train our Squad Team, the first ever Smash-A-Thon, annually hosting the North Central Tournament and BC Winter Games Zone 8 trials and travelling to countless provincial competitions across the province.

Founder, head coach and program coordinator Lisa Davison says, “I am extremely grateful for the friendships and connections that I have made locally, within the province and across Canada over the past 25+ years.  I have been fortunate enough to coach so many amazing athletes and meet their families.  I am grateful for all the volunteers, coaches and officials that have supported the clubs’ operations along the way.  I could not have accomplished what I did without them.  My heart is full and content knowing that I successfully introduced and shared my passion for the sport of badminton with so many people as I had originally intended.  The athletes and the power of sport have taught me so much and I will treasure the experiences and memories forever.”

It is our hope that another group of passionate badminton enthusiasts will open their doors for youth lessons and host the North Central Tournament in Prince George in the future.
